PepsiCo, Inc. is a US multinational food, snack, and beverage corporation. PepsiCo is the third largest food and drink company in the world. In 1965, the corporation was formed through the merger of Pepsi-Cola Company and Frito-Lay, Inc. Pepsi-Cola was established in the 1890s and Frito-Lay, Inc. was created in 1961. PepsiCo products are available in over 200 countries, operates nearly 700 manufacturing facilities around the globe, and has a total of 22 “iconic, billion-dollar brands.” Its popular drink brands include Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Tropicana Pure Premium, Gatorade, and Aquafina. Frito-Lay, the snack business of PepsiCo, includes brands such as Lay’s, Ruffles, Doritos, and Cheetos. The Quaker Foods unit makes breakfast cereals (Life, Quaker oatmeal), Rice-A-Roni rice, and Near East side dishes. It operates in the segments of: Frito-Lay North America, Quaker Foods North America, North America Beverages, Latin America, Europe Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Middle East, and North Africa. The company reported $79.8 billion in total assets and $34.74 billion in gross profit for fiscal year 2017.
